Aktar Konsegwenzi tal-CLIMATEGATE

APPELL GĦAL RIĊERKA MILL-ĠDID TAT-TEMPERATURI
Il-konsegwenzi tal-iskandlu CLIMATEGATE – li kixef kif f'ċentru ewlieni tar-riċerka dwar il-klima fl-East Anglia University (li fuqu kienu bbażati diversi rapporti allarmistiċi mill-IPCC tan-Nazzjonijiet Uniti dwar suppost tisħin tal-globu kawżat mill-bniedem) kien sar tbagħbis u ħabi tad-data – ma jieqfux.
   Wara r-riżenja tad-direttur taċ-ċentru Phil Jones, investigazzjonijiet fl-istess università u wkoll f'oħrajn fl-Istati Uniti, ammissjoni ta' qerq minn Jones innifsu u mic-Chairman tal-IPCC Rajendra Pachauri, u appelli għar-riżenja tiegħu, issa 150 xjenzjati rappreżentanti tal-Uffiċju Meteoroloġiku Brittaniku qed jappellaw lill-klimatoloġisti tad-dinja biex jibdew mill-bidu u jikkalkulaw mill-ġdid it-temperatura tal-pjaneta tagħna.
Dan sar wara laqgħa tal-Met Office li saret din il-ġimgħa fit-Turkija li ftit li xejn  ingħatat pubbliċità, u x-xjenzjati qed jinsistu mal-Kumitat għall-Klimatoloġija tal-World Meteorological Organisation li din ir-riċerka din id-darba tibda ssir fuq bażi ta' kuljum, u mhux aktar kull xahar, bħalma sar s'issa, sabiex id-data tkun aktar ta' min wieħed jogħqod fuqha.
Iżda forsi l-aktar punti importanti fl-appell tal-Met Office (u li l-Fox News irnexxielu jikseb kopja tiegħu) huma li:
-  l-metodi wżati jiġu dokumentati b'mod sħiħ kif xieraq (u mhux jippubblikaw biss dak li jaqbillu min jagħmel ir-riċerka jew iqabbad li ssir, bħalma nkixef li sar qabel
-  li dan l-istudju u r-riżultati jiġu verifikati b'mod indipendenti (peer reviewed) u mhux bil-mod kif nstab li sar qabel, fejn "wieħed iħokk dahar l-ieħor"
-  li jkun hemm dawk li jissejħu "comprehensive audit trails' biex jiżguraw fiduċja fl-istess riżultati.
It-tama tax-xjenzjati hija li din ir-riċerka mill-ġdid dwar it-temperaturi tal-pjaneta twaqqaf darba għal dejjem il-kontroversja enormi li teżisti dwar jekk id-dinja hix veru qed tisħon b'mod allarmanti.

UN's IPCC SEEKS TO RESTORE BRUISED REPUTATION

In the next few days, the world's leading authority on Global Warming plans to roll out a strategy to tackle a tough problem: restoring its own bruised reputation.

A months-long crisis at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has upended the world's perception of global warming, after CLIMATEGATE's hacked emails and other disclosures revealed deep divisions among scientists working with the United Nation-sponsored group. That has raised questions about the panel's objectivity in assessing one of today's most hotly debated scientific fields.

The problem stems from the IPCC's thorny mission: Take sophisticated and sometimes inconclusive science, and boil it down to usable advice for lawmakers. To meet that goal, scientists working with the IPCC say they sometimes faced institutional bias toward oversimplification, a
Wall Street Journal examination shows.

The IPCC has made the "problem" excessively complex. The real question is whether the world is warmer or cooler than should be expected (you need to know this before you know whether it is warming or recovering from excessive cold). The only factual answer at present is that we do not know and can not know until we properly determine earth's albedo under various natural cycle phases and that is likely going to take centuries. In the meantime get on with life and stop the absurd assault on carbon.
